Archer and Medicine Bag The archer
is a life size figure, so to make a medicine bag larger than
a life size person
is “big medicine.” The reason these
petroglyphs (carved images) are so light is that the bow and arrow
came to China Lake about 100 a.d. so these images are less than 2,000
years old. In time they will re-patina (from the build up of clay,
iron oxide, and manganese oxide on the surface of the rock) to the
darker color of the rock now.
Much of the time when there is a weapon there is a phallus/masculine. The medicine bag to me is receptive/feminine – so this is very yin and yang to me. |
